Just you and God

For a few months now I have been on this slippery slope of “I know there is a better person in me, but the comfort of this quickly satisfying world, is keeping me distracted.” But at what point does that seem to undermined the authority of God? My Christian walk is not, and was never about ME. The sooner I came to that realization, the more I wept that I begrudged the cross of Christ that way. You see, it is not what good works WE do to gain favor with God, it is knowing God that will lead you to life everlasting. Let’s be careful in how we approach our relationship with our creator. We will never measure up, we will never fully understand, and we will always fall short of the glory of God, so let’s, from now on, focus on what we can do to bring glory to God. For me that includes abiding in God. Me, God, and a quiet space will do the trick, every single day. You know those car rides to and from work? What a perfect time to abide in God. There are specific times each day that the Lord God has put in your path, be sure to take those times to give your praise, your surrender, and yourself over to the one, the I AM. Paul prays in Ephesians 3;20&21

20. Now to him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21. Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end, Amen.

Please do not let this verse go by unmediated. God is working in us each and every day and if we are abiding in him as the scriptures tell us to, see John 15;4, then we would not miss that God, who has all the power to do above all, needs to be glorified because of the power of Christ Jesus and by the church. In my own heart, I have been confronted, by the Holy Spirit, to share this revaluation with anyone and everyone. This is why it is so important for me to take up my cross and follow my savior. How can I expect others to follow my lead in the gospel if I am not out spreading it? My new mission for this season in my life, the season for an eternal life, is to go out to the borders and post camp, tell others about the God that has created the Earth. Just think about all the people who have never even heard how the earth came to be. And how selfish of me not to go out and tell others about the beauty and power that our creator has. I feel compelled to try and stop the millions, even billions, of people who are on the broad road to destruction. I love God, I love that he has given us the best tool in the world, the Bible. It is the inerrant, and because it is inerrant it is trustworthy, and the bible is God breathed, and because it is God breathed, it is Holy. Can you even believe we can get our hands on such a book? That just makes my alone time in the word that much more exciting! My God, the same God who has created the earth and has spoke the stars into being, that same God who parted the Red sea and rebuked a storm has given me, and you a living piece of him, and I am so grateful for that. So let’s not just sit in church and say “I just wasn’t that into the sermon”, because that is such a common phrase in the church today, and get out there, get up on that stage and start reading the word of God. Each person in the church should get to spend their own time worshiping, and meditating in God’s word. If we as members of the church would get inside our heads and realizing that we are not there in church to be entertained, we are not in church for the sermon to be interesting for us, we are not in church for us to see how loud we can sing, although we are commanded to sing and lift our arms in praise, we need to have the right motive. We are there for God and God alone; God gets all the glory and if we are focused on if we sang loud enough or if the sermon was an exact point for your life today, then we have clearly missed the point about being in church. I feel as though the pastors and leaders in ministries should be careful not to hurt the church by doing too much for the congregation and having the congregation do more for themselves. How are we glorifying God to the fullest if we are just sitting in the pew wondering how the message applies to our out of sync lives? Meditate day and night on the words you are reading and I can promise you that God will be with you. Our God has ultimate authority, Romans 13;1 says

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Did you get the gist of his authority there? There is NO power BUT of God. That puts me in my place real quickly. My prayer as I end this letter to us as Christians, and even those who might not be Christians but wanted to read that crazy blog, my prayer for us all is that we will start to take God and his word seriously. I want to go out to all the nations and tell of the good news, but how can I do that if I am so comfortable sitting around being satisfied with what little I know. I pray that I am never satisfied with the information that I know about the Lord God, I pray that we, as followers of Jesus, will rise together and have a hunger to grow in the word and in our faith. Let’s meditate day and night on the amazing gift that God has given us. When we do that, we will hear a lot more clearly what God is saying for our lives. I am praying tonight that we will never stop growing and always seek each other for the advance of the glorification of God our Father. Amen.
